Our Community Is At The Heart Of Everything We Do

We serve, partner with, and grow alongside our neighbors across Southwestern Indiana, Southeastern Illinois, and Northwestern Kentucky. Every program, every store, and every service is shaped by the communities we call home.

Built with Our Community, Not Around it.

Every program we offer exists because a need was identified by the community itself. Through conversations with neighbors, partners, employers, and the individuals we serve, we listen for gaps and respond with solutions rooted in dignity and opportunity.

  • The Need

In our region, many adults lack a high school diploma. In Vanderburgh County, 9% of the population 25 years or older lack a high school diploma. This limits job opportunities, with adults without a diploma facing a 9.6% unemployment rate and earning nearly $10,000 less than those with a high school diploma. (See The Need here).

  • Our Response

In 2024, we launched The Excel Center Evansville Southeast, a free adult high school offering a second chance at a high school diploma with the support needed to succeed.

  • What Changed

Adults in our community are earning diplomas, gaining confidence, and opening doors to better employment and education.

  • The Need

We live in a digital world with 92% of jobs in the U.S. requiring digital skills. However, across Indiana, Kentucky, Illinois, and the rest of the U.S. a digital divide remains with almost 1/3rd of our workforce lacking the necessary digital skills. (See The Need here).

  • Our Response

We created the GoodSkills Academy, offering free digital skills classes that meet people where they are. From basic computer skills to AI, we offer a variety of topics to help people feel more confident in a digital world.

  • What Changed

Participants gain confidence using technology to apply for jobs, communicate effectively, and protect themselves online.

  • The Need

From health conditions, affordable childcare, lack of transportation, insufficient skills, and more, many individuals face barriers and don’t know where to turn for support.

  • Our Response

The Opportunity Center brings community partners together to connect people resources, guidance, and pathways forward while also providing job skills training with the STEP Into Opportunity Program.

  • What Changed

People receive coordinated support instead of fragmented services, reducing frustration and improving outcomes.

  • The Need

Older adults and individuals with disabilities often face employment gaps and struggle to re-enter the workforce.

  • Our Response

Through Workforce Services and SCSEP, we support job readiness, training, and placement.

  • What Changed

Participants gain skills, experience, and renewed confidence to re-enter the workforce.

Stronger Together

Lasting change doesn’t happen alone.

We work alongside schools, employers, nonprofits, civic leaders, and community organizations to expand access to education, employment, and support services. We’re incredibly grateful to some of our local community partners who have helped extend our reach.

Through partnership, the Cycle of Good reaches further, creating pathways to opportunity that no single organization could build on its own.

There's A Place For You Here
Community looks different for everyone.

Some people support the Cycle by donating or shopping. Others join by working with us, volunteering their times, advocating for opportunity, or partnering to strengthen services.

However you engage, you are part of the community that makes this work possible.

Evansville Goodwill is more than an organization.
It’s a network of people who believe in second chances, shared responsibility, and the power of community to lift one another forward.

Together, we are building pathways to education, employment, and stability and creating a stronger tristate for all.
